Why Arugam Bay? Because the Sun rose being partially eclipsed. A location where the eastern horizon is visible without any obstructions would allow an observer to view the eclipse at Sunrise. So we searched for locations along the east coast. We searched weather satelite images and found that most of the country (Sri Lanka) was covered in clouds, except Arugam Bay and some other places along the east coast.
Optics
- Camera: Canon EOS 50D
- Lenses: Canon EF-S 18-200mm, Opteka 500mm Mirror Lens, Celstron NexStar Telescope
- Filters: InfraRed, h-alpha
EXIF data available on Photos
Views off the h-alpha filter were nice. However, we had issues when photographing.
